Patti Casey 1Patti Casey has earned her spot as a fixture on the northeastern US folk scene through sheer talent and artistic self discipline. A native of Vermont, Casey is a prolific songwriter who tells honest and quirky tales of everyday life. She is a master of vocal understatement, simple, pure; like a jazz vocalist whose heart was somehow – for some unknown but wonderful reason – thrown into gospel mode. Casey has perfected her own New England-flavored bluegrass style, one that shines equally with welcome, familiar sounds as well as undeniable originality. She has recorded five solo albums, and her latest, The Heart of a Waiting Boy, is aural testament to, “the sweetest voice and some of the finest songwriting to come out of Vermont…” (Vermont Public Radio).

Her career has taken her to many places along the way. She has appeared live on “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor, has won Texas’s prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk songwriter’s competition, and was a winner of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at the legendary Merlefest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina as well as at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s Troubadour songwriters contest. Colin McCaffrey 4Colin McCaffrey was born in southern Vermont and raised on a small organic farm in the Connecticut River valley. At an early age he traveled with his musical family throughout New England performing gospel, Irish and American folk songs. His love of stringed instruments and harmony singing gradually drew him deeper into mountain music, Quebecois fiddle tunes, cajun, country, and bluegrass.

McCaffrey earned a degree in music at Berklee College of Music, and then ran back to the Green Mountains of Vermont to sink into the woods and soak up the earthy sounds of the northern Appalachians. His songwriting and playing are rooted in traditional folk and American forms. He’s recorded three independent releases, including his acclaimed, self produced Make Your Way Home. An effort that was praised by Seven Days as “perfectly balanced, beautiful sounding bluegrass/folk record packed with high quality songs and high caliber musicianship.”

He is a member of the well-known Vermont bands: The Stone Cold Roosters, The Goat Broke Loose and Blue Norther, as well as a frequent sideman for The Missing Cats, Dr Burma, The Sevens, The Clayfoot Strutters, and many singer-songwriters including Susannah Blachly, Lewis Franco, Justin Levinson, and Myra Flynn. In addition to writing his own music, he’s a producer, studio musician and sound engineer. He’s produced two award winning CDs of children’s music with Rebop records. Other production credits include Lewis Franco, Carol Ann Jones, Susannah Blachly, Allison Mann, Justin Levinson and more. For more information please visit http://colinmccaffrey.com/
