A Better Place, a Twist on Oliver, by Vermont Youth Dancers
Oliver, a young orphan, flees an orphanage in the hopes of finding a better life. She befriends the Artful Dodger and is taken in by the evil Fagin and his gang of pickpockets, who try to convince her that thievery is the life for her – but Oliver knows that being true to herself and her friends will help her to discover the forever family she longs to find.
Vermont Youth Dancers is a community dance troupe of area elementary, middle and high school age students. It was founded by Jericho resident Mia Groff to provide young dancers in the area with opportunities to perform, and is co-directed with Theresa Robinson. Mia started the group with just 5 young dancers in 2006 and has grown to include 45 dancers from Jericho, Underhill, Richmond, Fletcher, and Essex, ages 6 to 18. VYD is completely a volunteer-led organization, devoted to supporting area students in dance and performing arts.
