Simon Perkins
Each summer, Simon Perkins would drive from Vermont’s Middlebury College (where he was majoring in English and American literature) to Montana. It was there that he worked for PRO Outfitters on the Blackfoot, Missouri and Smith rivers. His interest in film started during that time as a fly-fishing and bird-hunting guide. Perkins has since moved back east to Manchester, Vermont, to continue the development of his media company Sharptail Media. Perkins is the director of Ascend (Mountainfilm 2017), For the Love of Mary (Mountainfilm 2018) and Broken (Mountainfilm 2019).
Jon Wilson
Jon Wilson wrote and narrates Broken. After losing his leg to cancer as a young adult, Jon struggled with feeling broken. Challenging himself in the outdoors presented a possible remedy. Today, skinning up and skiing down mountains at night on his remaining leg provides a distinct backdrop for Jon to explore, accept, and embrace the idea of “brokenness,” allowing him to find a more sincere, vulnerable and honest connection with life.
