Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy

Wednesday, May 15, 7:00pm

Perhaps one of the most foundational pieces of Mt. Joy’s music points back to Quinn and his songwriting – which has been praised by Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR, and The Guardian. In between a heavy touring plan with over 150,000+ headline tickets sold this year, Quinn has recently worked in collaboration with other artists such as Noah Kahan, Joy Oladokun, Adam Melchor, Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners, Julia Pratt and more.

“This show at Spruce Peak will be a solo, more intimate appearance than his typical structure of jamming on stage with the full Mt. Joy band. This show will allow for more story telling between songs and a unique spin on some of fan-favorite Mt. Joy songs.”

“They’re the hot honey sauce (or “honey hot,” as Matt Quinn would say) that makes everything better – anthems, ballads, extended jams, sandwiches, salads… you name it! The Philadelphia indie rock band have spent the past six years now on what has proved to be a never-ending journey of self-discovery: Each of their three studio albums has unlocked something new in terms of who Mt. Joy are and who they can be. It’s a process that promises to continue repeating until they grow tired or get bored, neither of which is likely to happen any time soon.” – Atwood Magazine

Enjoy a short acoustic set before the show from Vermont folk-singer, Troy Millette, of Troy Millette and the Fire Below.

What’s in a song? A dash of creativity, a few fresh rhymes, and a full serving of heart are the recipe for success according to singer/songwriter Troy Millette, who alongside his band the Fire Below has gained recognition as one of the region’s most engaging live acts. Since emerging on the local circuit in 2009, Millette’s emotive and relatable lyrics have made him a staple of dives, clubs, and festivals across the northeast United States and Quebec. In March 2022 he was invited to showcase his talents at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. That same year, the Fire Below received the title of Vermont’s “Best Folk Group” at the Seven Daysies Awards.

Matt Quinn, frontman and songwriter of Mt. Joy, was only a couple of months into law school when Mt. Joy’s single “Astrovan” began racking up hundreds of thousands of plays on Spotify at release. Quinn had just moved out to L.A. from Philadelphia and was attending night classes and working a full-time job when he realized he should drop out and give the music a real shot.

Since then, Mt. Joy has flourished into a 5 piece band that has spent the past six years making music, touring the world, and playing alongside some of their greatest influences. With three studio albums and a live record, Mt. Joy has gone on to achieve three Top 5 AAA radio singles, their single “Silver Lining” went gold in US and Canada, and they’ve made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel, James Corden, Stephen Colbert + more.
