Soulquinox: Psychedelic Science & Spirituality Summit

Friday, September 20, 6:30pm

Ticket purchase includes access to the Friday night film at 6:30pm, “Music for Mushrooms”,  and a live performance by East Forest on Saturday night at 7:00pm

September 20th – 6:30 pm

Film Screening: Music for Mushrooms is a narrative documentary self-portrait highlighting the personal journey of shamanistic musician and filmmaker East Forest (Krishna-Trevor Oswalt), a collaborator of the late Ram Dass, whose bold experiments pair music with guided psychedelic experiences focused on creating a space of healing for a fractured world. The film captures East Forest as he discovers a practice of guided ceremonial concerts that offer participants an immersive environment to confront their pain and fears, fostering hope, and moving them to re-engage with their own true north.

Saturday, September 21 – 7:00 pm

Music Performance: Join East Forest for a 90 minute Music Performance at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center on September 21st. Show starts at 7:30 pm.

Whether via his Music For Mushrooms: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner album series, his collaborative spoken word album with Ram Dass, or one of his communal “Ceremony Concerts,” East Forest’s goal has always been “building bridges and creating an approach that’s grounded, embodied, and unarguable.”

His most recent project, a feature length documentary film, Music For Mushrooms, follows him through the psychedelic renaissance on a mission to pair music with psychedelics to bring about transformative healing to a world in crisis.

The most collaborative effort from East Forest so far, the LP features Senegalese singer Marieme, drummer Jens Kuross (RY X, The Acid) and cellist/bassist Owen Hofmann-Smith. From the thoughtful and rhythmic repose of “Clay Steps” to the emotional atmospheres of “Tangled,” the house-driven “Currents” with Brazilian techno producer ANNA, the contemplative groove of “Birds Eye” and the raunchy-wisdom of single “So What?” with comedian Duncan Trussell, Music For The Deck of The Titanic crafts a true journey of mood. Its 11 tracks are a culmination of a life spent exploring and meditating on music as a connective narrative, and a contemporary musical reminder that we can at any moment return to our humanity without falling behind.
